Unique Reptile Campaign Boasts 15 Awards To-Date for 2007
At the heart of the campaign is the creative manifestation of Zilla's tagline "Where Reptiles Rule." Brand ads feature reptiles watching their "pet" humans in terrariums while they add enhancements to motorcycles, play music on guitar and drums, watch T.V. or have fun with family. Ads for Zilla products show reptiles personified in aspect of human life: A turtle savoring a mouthful of Zilla food, a sexy female uromastyx dancing under Zilla lighting, a leopard gecko building his home with a Zilla kit and a bearded dragon sleeping like a king on Zilla bedding.
"Our brand and products campaign is as fun and unique as our clientele," says Michael Elliot, Zilla senior brand manager. "Zilla customers are vibrant and passionate. Our goal is to deliver this same spirit in our brand collateral. We are reptile owners, fans and experts and we want our customers to see that in our marketing pieces."
The Zilla ads were debuted in Reptile magazine last fall. Since then, they have also appeared in Pet Product News and on the Zilla Web site, www.zilla-rules.com. The posters, binders and guides have also been seen by reptile owners across the country in pet stores. The campaign is the brainchild of Howard, Merrell & Partners, an award-winning, full-service, strategic communications agency based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
